In the words of the human Sid:
" FOR YOUR INFORMATION
This is our 1960 Clipper Blue Morris Minor
1000.
![]()
First registered on 7th November 1960, he still has his original 948cc engine.
Both undersides have been reconstructed with new panels, mostly obtained from Countryside Classics of Whitstable in Kent. Most of the welding was done by a friend from the EKMMC. The work took place at my friends workshop (Countryside Classics, Whitstable, Kent.)
One front wing has been replaced as it was badly rusted and beyond restoration. The other was repaired and adapted to fit the small side lights which were standard on this model at the time. In places, it was necessary to use small amounts of filler, although, where possible, new panels were fitted. I have sprayed the car myself with aerosols with special nozzles. I bought the paint from Barretts.
All of the brake cylinders and linings have
been replaced with new ones.![]()
After rewiring and studying pictures, we have managed to get the semaphore indicators working properly from the indicator stalk on the steering wheel. These are of the self cancelling type. As the headlining was badly torn, a new one was fitted. The carpet was bought from "Morrie Spares, Essex", I fitted it myself, and it took one whole day. East Sussex Minors supplied me with the headlining, and it took me two days to put it in.
Sid originally came from Radnor in wales. Sadly, the original registration number had been sold some years before the previous owner bought the car.
We looked at several Minors, including one from Goudhurst, but finally bought this Morris from a man named Paul at Selling, near Canterbury, Kent. This particular car stood out because it was in better condition than any of the other cars we'd seen.
After six owners since 1978- we are the seventh- we think "Sid" deserves a complete makeover considering all the hard work he has performed over the years! He is a car from the 60's, which is when I was born. In the year 2000 we'll be celebrating my parents 40th wedding anniversary- and my car will be 40 years old!"
Happy Birthday Sid!!!!
